เราเดินเล่นกันไปตามทางเดินในสวนสาธารณะ อากาศสดชื่น แสงแดดอ่อนๆ ส่องลอดผ่านต้นไม้ใหญ่ เสียงนกร้องเพลงคลอเบาๆ โคลเวอร์วิ่งเล่นอย่างสนุกสนาน ดมกลิ่นดอกไม้ใบหญ้า ทักทายสุนัขตัวอื่นๆ ที่เดินผ่านไปมา ผมปล่อยให้โคลเวอร์วิ่งเล่นอย่างอิสระภายใต้สายตาของผมที่คอยเฝ้าดูอยู่ห่างๆ
ขณะที่โคลเวอร์กำลังวิ่งไล่จับผีเสื้ออยู่ตรงสนามหญ้ากว้าง เหตุการณ์ที่ไม่คาดฝันก็เกิดขึ้น โคลเวอร์หยุดชะงักกึก หูตั้งชัน จ้องมองไปที่พุ่มไม้ข้างทางอย่างไม่ละสายตา ผมสังเกตเห็นถึงความผิดปกติ จึงเดินเข้าไปดูใกล้ๆ
ผมไม่รู้ว่าลูกแมวตัวนี้มาอยู่ที่นี่ได้อย่างไร แต่ที่แน่ๆ คือมันต้องการความช่วยเหลือ ผมตัดสินใจพาลูกแมวตัวนั้นกลับบ้านด้วยกัน โคลเวอร์ดูจะชอบลูกแมวน้อยตัวนี้มาก มันคอยเลียและคลอเคลียลูกแมวอย่างอ่อนโยน ผมตั้งชื่อให้ลูกแมวตัวนั้นว่า “สโนว์”
